Project Overview

This orangery redecoration project in Ealing was designed to transform a glazed extension into a bright, elegant and high-end living space with a distinctive decorative finish. The client wanted something more visually striking than standard paintwork, while still keeping the room soft, warm and refined enough for everyday family use. To achieve this, the project centred around a specialist marble-effect decorative paint finish applied across the internal wall surfaces, structural boxing, bulkhead areas and surrounding features.

Scope of Works

Special Effects Painting

The main feature of the project was the application of a bespoke marble-effect decorative finish throughout the orangery. This was carefully layered to create a natural stone-inspired appearance with soft movement, tonal variation and organic veining.
The finish was applied to: Main internal wall surfaces
Structural corner returns
Bulkhead and beam sections
Window reveal areas
Lower wall sections and ledge detailing.
The chosen decorative effect introduced a warm neutral palette with subtle earthy undertones, creating a sophisticated and cohesive appearance across the entire room.

Surface Preparation & Detailing

Before any decorative application could begin, all surfaces had to be carefully inspected, repaired and prepared to ensure the special effects finish would perform and present correctly.
Filling and smoothing minor surface imperfections
Preparing newly boarded and plastered sections
Sanding uneven areas to create a consistent base
Sealing and priming the surfaces for decorative application
Protecting glazing frames, flooring, edges and adjoining finishes throughout the works

Finishing and Detailing

To complete the space to a high standard, attention was also given to:

  • Crisp edge work around frames and corners
  • Seamless blending across adjoining surfaces
  • Consistency of pattern flow and tone
  • Clean finishing around architectural details and glazing lines

This ensured the decorative treatment looked intentional, balanced and premium from every angle.

Challenges & Solutions

Extensive Glazing and Framing: This orangery glazing and aluminium framing exposed architectural lines within the space. Decorative finishes of this type need to look clean and uninterrupted, but in rooms like this there are many edges, corners and transitions that can easily make the result look broken or inconsistent if not handled correctly.
Achieving a Natural Stone Effect: The space receives a large amount of natural light, so overly strong contrast or harsh veining could have dominated the room.
Consistency: We treated the entire room as one continuous decorative composition rather than a series of isolated panels. This helped create visual continuity across the space, ensuring the finish looked connected and professionally executed throughout.

Outcome

The completed orangery redecoration in Ealing was transformed into a bright, sophisticated and highly individual space with a luxurious decorative finish. The marble-effect special paintwork added depth, warmth and texture to the room while working beautifully with the black-framed windows, roof glazing and light-reflective tiled floor.

Result

What had previously been a plain, newly finished extension became a visually striking feature area within the home, elegant enough to impress, yet soft and neutral enough to remain practical and inviting for everyday use. The finished result successfully combined decorative creativity with technical precision, delivering a bespoke orangery interior that feels polished, modern and distinctive.
